Bird' Eye monochrome
A line of notes. A bulk of charts. Then music is emanated.
WAVES
Lithography is a process of constructing a three-dimensional world between the flat surfaces of 'plate' and 'paper'. Like the landscape in front of us, our memories are another world and another reality. They fluctuate greatly with the passage of time and emotions, and constantly change. My work does not seek the significance of being 'there' and refuses to be interpreted by words. I want to create a world in which the colours do not evoke any natural objects, but rather absorb even the space itself.
COLOR TESTING
A world of depth is created by considering the way things change with the passage of time as 'movement'. Circles arc and eventually return to the same orbit. They can also be summed up in the form of time. Time is not just the passing movement on a line from one point to another, or the moment of disconnection, but is a phenomenon in which many more elements are blended together. Just as the body perceives the various objects that are illuminated by light as they emit their presence and move about, I want to print over and over on paper the sensation of things as they are.
MIRROR
inside or outside of the circle, which one do you belong to? Actually both sides should be the same. The outline of circle, you are staring at now, disappers from time to time.
TIME
My mind is always fascinated, as the everyday scenery in front of me is changing from time to time. This world exists beyond any words and mingles with the time. I want to capture the movement of the scene at the bottom of my pupils, and draw them in my heart again and again.
COLOR INHERIT
The true image appears by depositing layer upon layer of plates. The materials become invisible by pouring the light over light.Just like the fading memories after ages. By using the over-corroded plate, I superimpose the colors.
After the thaw
Just like the vision on water surface, swaying as the wind blows
The things we see always wonder and tremble
We see them or not, it doesn't matter
We cannot hold them forever anyway
I want to express what my body feels, way before the words come out
Seasons turn again and now it is the time for thawing
I approach to the season and the season leaves me, as I layer the plates
The layers let me realize that there's no eternity or time
Does the world change after the thaw?
MASSIVE BLUE
When my sight blurs by tears, I was cut out from my peaceful surroundings in a moment. The tears change the world. When I print, the original image is also cut out from the edition. I always wake up with the expectation of seeing the new world.
serch light
The process of lithography reminds me of bringing back my memory together; as I put all the pieces I saw in somewhere to one piece, and layer them to create scenery. Then I admit the flat surface as a structure beyond the dimension. Then I feel my old memory accumulates to the present, just like “at that time” is “not like that”, and my work with layers and layers says no to my consciousness, and finally I find myself that all layers exists in the past. Recently, I see my works as the bridges tying the present and past.
HIDDEN MEMORIES
When I was staying in the Netherlands, I worked at the studio in the forest of Den Haag. By walking into the depth of the forest, the loose, green gradually ground turned into the hard, dry land with sands. Then, as far as my eyes can see, there were the beach and horizon. The forest ran down into the sea. Amazing view of panorama, after gazing up the tall trees!

TEMPERATURE
Lithograph is a printing method using the immiscible characters of water and oil.
The amount of ink layered on the surface depends of the balance of temperature and moisture of the plate. Sometimes I feel the existence of “temparature” when I put the ink from the roller into the plate.
